What the Status Badges on Your Integrations Page Mean
A lead source can be connected and still not be doing its job. The login works, the tile is green, and the one permission your agent needs to reply inside the thread was never granted. The badges on your Integrations page exist to catch that before a week of leads goes quiet — this is how to read them.
The badges
Every tile and every card uses the same six badges:
Connected (green) — the connection is live and, where we can check it, doing what it should.
Needs attention (red) — something is broken and a person has to fix it. Leads or replies are being affected right now.
Needs attention (amber) — something is worth fixing but nothing is broken. Today this only appears on the Google card, for Google Ads spend tracking.
Not Connected (grey) — never connected, or disconnected.
Pending (blue) — the connection is part-way through setup.
Paused (amber) — the connection exists but isn't running.
Coming soon (blue) — the integration isn't switched on for your account yet.
Red and amber say exactly the same words. Both read Needs attention — only the colour differs, and there's no legend or tooltip on the page to tell you which is which. If you're colour-blind or reading on a bad screen, open the card: red always carries a fix-it panel, amber on the Google card carries a milder one.
The tile tells you there's a problem; the card tells you what it is
The chip at the bottom of a tile is the action, and it changes with the badge:
Connect — not connected yet.
Manage — connected and healthy.
Review — needs attention. Click it.
It says Review rather than Reconnect on purpose. An attention state isn't always a login problem — a read-only Google Ads grant needs a role change at Google, and reconnecting would send you to do the one thing that can't help. Clicking through opens the card, and the card carries the specific remedy under a bolded What to do: line.
A red tile still sits under Connected. The page groups tiles under Connected and Available, and anything that has ever connected stays under Connected regardless of colour. Don't scan for it in the wrong half.
The Needs attention filter chip only counts the red ones. Filter to Needs attention and an amber Google Ads warning won't be in the list. Use All if you want to see everything.
Health checks re-run on their own. Each row is stamped with when it was last checked — Reply permission checked 2 hours ago, and so on. Most re-check within the hour, so fix the underlying problem and leave it rather than clicking around.
What each card actually checks
Only three cards grade themselves today. The rest show connected or not, and nothing more.
Google Local Services Ads — two separate rows. The first answers "can we reply to LSA leads", the second "can we read your Google Ads spend". They fail independently. A healthy first row reads "UpSmith can reply to your Google Local Services leads."
Thumbtack — can we reply inside the Thumbtack thread. Healthy reads "UpSmith can reply inside your Thumbtack conversations."
Meta — is your authorization still alive. Meta expirations now turn the badge red rather than hiding behind a banner, which is how the QuickBooks and RingCentral cards have always behaved.
Troubleshooting
Google says it can read but not reply. The card reads "UpSmith can read Google Ads account(s) … but not reply inside Google's own message thread. Leads that leave a phone number are still answered by text; a lead that leaves none gets no reply at all." Your Google Ads administrator needs to give the account UpSmith is connected as Standard or Admin access. Don't reconnect — Google checks the role on every reply, and the card re-checks within the hour on its own.
Google is amber and mentions Ads accounts. Either "We can't see any Google Ads accounts for your Google connection." — reconnect Google with an account that can reach your Ads accounts — or "We found Google Ads accounts for your connection (…), but none are enrolled for spend tracking yet.", which we have to finish on our side. Email support@upsmith.com for that one. Your LSA leads are unaffected either way — this row is only about spend data in Ask Jenny.
Thumbtack is red and mentions replies. The card reads "UpSmith can read the Thumbtack conversation for … but not reply inside it, so replies never show up in the Thumbtack thread. The customer still receives them as a text through Thumbtack's relay number." Reconnect Thumbtack from the card. Permission to reply in the thread is granted only as the connection is made, so an existing connection never picks it up on its own — there's no way to add it without reconnecting.
Thumbtack shows a grey panel instead of red or green. "We could not confirm what UpSmith is allowed to do on the Thumbtack connection …" means the check itself didn't come back. It re-checks within the hour. Tell us if it persists.
Meta is red. The card says "Your Meta connection expired. Leads and messages are still arriving, but ad performance has stopped updating and your pages can't be changed until you reconnect." Click Reconnect Meta. Only you can renew a Meta authorization — there is nothing we can do from our side.
Meta shows a blue banner but the badge is still green. That's the two-week warning — "Your Meta connection expires soon" — or a prompt to grant an extra permission (Enable direct messages, Enable ad performance). Nothing is broken yet. Handle it before it turns red.
Yelp has gone quiet but the card looks fine. The Yelp card has no health row — it only shows connected, expired or error. Open it and check Last webhook under Show details. If that's blank or stale and the card still reads Connected, email support@upsmith.com — we can see things from our side that the card doesn't show you yet.
Connecting a lead source is blocked by a dialog. "Assign a lead responder first" or "Your lead responder has no channel" means no agent is set up to answer new leads, so connecting the source would drop every lead it brings in. Use Go to Leads Settings, sort that out, then come back.
Common questions
The badge is green — does that mean everything works? It means nothing we check has failed. We only grade Google LSA, Thumbtack and Meta today. Green on the other tiles means the connection exists, not that leads are flowing.
What's the difference between amber and red? Red means customers are affected now. Amber means data is missing but nobody's lead is being dropped. The words are identical; only the colour separates them.
Do I have to fix an unknown or grey state? No. A grey panel means our check didn't come back — that's ours to sort out, not yours. It re-runs automatically.
Why did reconnecting not clear the badge? Because some of these are permission problems, not login problems. A Google Ads role change and a Thumbtack reply scope are granted in different places. Read the What to do: line on the card before reconnecting anything.
Can I get told when a connection breaks instead of checking? Not from this page today. If a quiet connection would hurt, tell support@upsmith.com — how often it comes up is what moves it up the list.
